He is really bad at starting his seasons right. Two years in a row, he comes out flat, unclear, unsure of himself, and then he settles in and starts surprising everyone.
Is it because he sets the bar so low in the beginning that any improvement stands out? Is it the OCs who change their approach to offense? Or is it just the way he rolls?
Whatever the factors, and from what I've been able to see, he seems to be getting better as the season progresses. Not that I think we're a good team ... I mean ... at the end of the day, it's Rutgers. Still, I can say that I am off the ledge at this point and back to the bar burying my grief and and anger in substantial amounts of hard liquor. I guess that's an improvement?
I suppose we can always run the table from this point on, right? Nah. We're UCLA. We don't do table running. Besides, we haven't hit our customary late season meltdown yet.
