Yeah I've seen that stat. But since you made the contention, it's up to you to prove it, not me to disprove it. Actually you can look it up. So you have no excuse not to. Play by play of every game is in the box scores. So how many third down conversions were runs and how many were passes?
But really. If they gain a yard and a half on third and one is that really bad defense? Here is the comparison you need to make. One analysis of college football has making a first down with one or two yards to go on 3rd down about 67%. Assume teams almost always run in that situation. So is our percentage stopping them higher or lower?
