Bye season

Ucla football is in a bye season. Morgan Center is showing us that it is incapable...literally before our eyes we can verify this...of fielding a competitive football program. We got nothing this year. Zero.

Morgan Center's new motto: Let them eat fake.

As Ucla takes the year off, we fans get 12 scrimmages and are invited to watch the legitimate CFB programs compete, as they do every year, for big prizes.

Ucla can't do that. It isn't mentally strong enough, entrepreneurial enough or energetic enough. Oh, but rest assured. It's "elite".

Schools that do well at football are not "elite". They're knuckle-draggers and barbarians. They aren't of the Brahmin class like the aristocrats who inspire Morgan Center, Ucla and the UC system.

But let's look at this mess with a quantitative lens.

Knuckle-dragger Ohio State generated revenue of $280,000,000 in 2023 and posted a $26 million profit. Yes, profit. For those not knowing of such base elements of life, annual profit is money you have left over after paying ALL expenses for a year. Nearly all of the money came from football. This year these unwashed, fly-over, midwestern untouchables will approach $300,000,000 in revenue as the CFP system expands and they play in it for bigger payouts.

In 2022, the top nine college football programs produced $2.1 billion in revenue and over $200 million in profit. If we toss Notre Dame in, we'd likely be over $2.3B and $225 million for 10 programs. For one year.

Lest I remind you, Ucla is $160 million in DEBT. If we use something as crass as money to measure the leadership talent at MC and Ucla, we'd see a $400 million crater between what Ucla has produced and what any of the knuckle-draggers have been able to generate.

Can you now begin to appreciate the scale of the MC-Ucla failure? Can you begin to sense we have no effective leadership and haven't had for decades? Can you see how this gross incompetence has culminated in placing the future of Ucla football in doubt?

Our NIL "program" was reorganized last week and it came out that the football NIL "Bruins for Life" (same exact name as the pre-existing Belmont Bruins collective! Ouch) has $1mm in it...already! Wow. How impressive! Well, not really when you consider that tOSU's annual player football NIL is estimated to be $20 million.

So, here we are. $160mm in debt and 1/20th the size of a prime competitor. And the gap will widen. The crater will expand to the point where Ucla will find itself on another football continent from the best programs. The future of Ucla football is darkening.

So, take this bye "week" and contemplate our plight. The first step to recovery in any serious problem is recognizing the problem. We need a loud and public recognition of our failure and a massive repudiation of Ucla and Morgan Center. We need to fire them because they went bankrupt. They deserve to be fired. Moreover, the great heritage of Ucla football deserves functioning, successful leadership.
