The defense was a decent bend but don't break team which couldn't get ANY pressure on a qb for most of the year and couldn't get off the field on 3rd down.
Minnesota and Rutgers QB's had ALL DAY to throw, and we never even got enough pressure to get them off of their spots.
However, in the Nebraska game, we finally unleashed the pressure packages and blitzes (great timing against a true frosh QB) and the defense mad a huge leap ever since.
We're getting 3 and out series on defense again, and it's because of the defense playing well, not just a lucky penalty or incomplete pass.
We're getting TFL's in bunches again.
Now we're actually forcing turnovers (pressure does that), and it looks like the defense we expected.
The move of Femi to DE was huge too, but the pressure which was non-existent most of the year is back and that's why we're doing better now.
