I agree that, given our limited NIL, we should spend it on linemen. But I wonder how many good skill position players are going to want to play on a team where the linemen are the ones getting paid.
I think the way to build your lines long term is still to get them out of high school (when they draw less NIL offers) and develop them. Keep them happy. If you develop a star and lose him to Texas, so be it.
I feel the same way about QB, generally. Don't spend all your money on a QB unless you're getting a really top guy or your own QB's suck.
But, Foster has to know that, like any coach, you have a limited time to make the magic happen. Many (me included) were willing to sit back and let Chip MF Kelly do his thing, but people will likely not be as patient with DF. We face such a talent drop next year that it could be ugly, no matter what DF does.
I think the biggest need is to retain Malloe. Seems like a good DC and has connections to the Polynesian community. I don't watch the games as closely as I used to, but it seems like this team has more Polynesian names than we usually do.
