If bama doesn’t make the tourney, the SEC, rightfully, in my mind, is gonna blow the system up. Just go look at the strength of schedules and records. The SEC is just too difficult relative to the other conferences. Teams are going to lose more often when you play better teams. Why should the best conference be punished for having better teams than everyone else? It’s just basic fairness. I used to by the cyclical nature of cfb, but it’s pretty clear to me that the this is more than just a cycle. This is probably immutable.
I personally think the playoff is silly in college. We KNOW there is less than a 1% chance SMU, Boise, Clemson, Indiana can win this thing. 4 was plenty of teams, I was fine with the computer picking 2 teams like the good old days. I don’t think the computers ever picked the wrong matchup when we had that system. Under this system we have two of Arizona State., Boise and/or Clemson getting first round byes. That’s just a freaking joke. Three of the worst 4 teams in the tourney have byes. Look at those teams’ schedules and compare to any SEC school. On a different note, It’s just too much ball for these kids. Some of these kids could be playing 16-17 games. I guess at least they are being paid now.
Maybe Bama being excluded and this thing being destroyed as soon as possible is the superior long term outcome.
