It’s crazy I don’t know this for certain, but extra points are no longer automatic in the NFL. I can’t recall if college is using thr pro rules or not. So if XP are no longer thr 95%+ probability it encourages going for 2.
As with all analytics, they referee the the average teams. What if you are playing a really really good team or you are dominant. I think analytics are oftentimes used by coaches as shields when you need to examine the specifics of the teams and the context of each situation.
Once again it’s more applicable to the pros than amateurs because everyone is pretty much equal in the pros whereas there are huge variations of skill/twlent levels in college. This is true especially later in the year when injuries are ravaging everyone.
This going for 2 when down by 14 has become de rigueur the last 2 years. As a Giants fan I hate it, we have an amazingly awful 2 point percentage, but Daboll keeps saying, but but analytics. We also have a small sample size because we suck so bad we can’t score TDs regardless
