I thought that if you declared for the portal you were not part of the program. The program is not required to take you back. A guy can go into the portal, go to the bowl game, decide he wants to stay, and the coach can say get your stuff out the f your student housing, the semester ended. That’s weird. Not arguing m, just saying that’s weird.
For me, everything being equal, I wouldn’t play a guy that was in the portal unless I had to. It’s a business now. Why highlight a guy for other schools? Why give reps to someone that is leaving you? I mean, if you could persuade the guy to return, ok. But if he’s gone, and his back up is almost as good. Play the guy that’s staying.
And on the flip side, unless they are trying to showcase themselves, why do guys in the portal play? Guys sit out bowl games so they don’t get hurt before the draft. Is the portal different?
