Undeserving. They were awful. They literally beat nobody all year. Not a single big W. They played 2 ranked teams and got destroyed. This game wasnt nearly as close as the score indicates.
The major problem with the playoff is how the mega conferences as structured. This is not IUs fault whatsoever, but they played a ridiculously easy schedule compared to some of the SEC schools who got left out. Oftentimes When the analytics get involved comparing a team that plays a schedule like IU and comp it to, say Ole Miss or Bama or SC, you come out with strange results. Yeah, it’s easy to say just win your games. The reality is that if you are playing really good team almost every week it’s much harder to do. Also, how to you comp a W against other teams that made the playoffs (Georgia or Clemson) to destroying a Nebraska or UCLA who are bad to average. Is it who you beat or lost to? The MOV seemed to win the day for IU.
