Mike McDonald is with the ravens.

D'Anton Lynn came from the ravens

Ucla's d got a lot better when D'Anton Lynn arrived.

Even after he left (and a ton of talent went to the nfl), the d stayed pretty good (not great, but better than 2017 and 2018).

I conclude that D'Anton Lynn introduced this "modular" approach to d to Ucla, and Malloe picked it up and is carrying it on.

Interesting that McDonald took a step down so he could have a lab to perfect his thinking and teaching.
