UT roster talent > Ucla's
UT coaching staff > Ucla's
Overall, nico is downgrading. He definitely shot himself in the foot by playing hardball with UT.
But what really matters? It's getting a chance to play. Putting plays on film that show what could be might be enough to get him drafted next year.
Everything is a gamble. It was a gamble to leverage UT. Snake eyes. But now he's trying to land on his feet.
I went to the FNL practice at drake. I was struck by how similar all the Ucla wr's looked in terms of quickness and burst. 83 looked as fast as 3, who looked as fast as 11, etc.
Nobody stood out as looking extra-ordinarily quick. Last year, Gilmer did. His burst and his ability to get out of a stop-and-go pattern were clearly faster than almost everyone else (JMS and Pegan would vie for honors).
When your walk ons are as fast as your starters... worry? Or a good thing?
During the 11on11 plays, the Ucla receivers were mostly WAO on every play. It was like I was watching the Indiana game again, with Ucla's d being Ucla's d and Ucla's o being Indiana's o.
It's gonna be a very interesting year. Subplots galore.
