You don't know how much they are studying. They have to remain academically eligible in order to play. They're probably doing the student thing as much as they ever have.
I don't like the fluidity either. But, it's a new day, and we're not going back unless the players unionize and agree to transfer restrictions, I don't think that's likely.
Best solution: multi-year NIL deals. If you're good, you have to buy out your contract to leave. If you're not, the school can let you go on a free.
