.... have you seen another school portal in a QB with the assumption that the guy is the QB unless he screws it up. Then portal in another guy and say "that's my guy."?
What other school has done that.
And, we will be better off in 2025. But, we're not going to win anything. Then, in 2026, where are we? If Nico lives up to the hype, there's a strong likelihood that he demands a lot more money or he leaves. He did it to us. His brother did it to us, then did it to Arkansas. I'm fine with that. My point is what are you giving up to get that guy for one year. A year that will almost certainly be meh.
Yes, we are better off in 2025. We're probably looking for a new QB in 2026. Maybe we could have kept Martyn, who in Spring when he was a Freshman (I think), Chip rated evenly with Dante, Garbers, and Schlee.
For me, I'd rather have kept Martyn in the program and did what it took to keep him (or whomever won the job) around in 2026, when Foster has had a couple of cycles to build the offense, the OC has had a year to coach up the guys in the offense, and Malloe has had a season to rebuild the D.
The Iamaleva family has shown on 3 occasions that they will split to get a better situation. More power to them. They should. But, I'd prefer us to be more focused on building toward 2026, and build a QB into the offense that will be here in 2026, having run the offense for a year.
Yes, Nico will have a better year this season at UCLA than Martyn does at VaTech, or Davis does, where ever he went.
And, ya, we got Madden. Who's to say he won't bail for more $$? Or, CDF won't recruit over him?
