Look at this projected list of the top 10 QB's in the Big 10:
1. Drew Allar, Penn State
2. Julian Sayin, Ohio State - TRANSFER
3. Dante Moore, Oregon - TRANSFER
4. Demond Williams, Washington - TRANSFER
5. Luke Altmyer, Illinois - TRANSFER
6. Dylan Raiola, Nebraska
7. Jayden Maiava, USC - TRANSFER
8. Bryce Underwood, Michigan
9. Fernando Mendoza, Indiana - TRANSFER
10. Nico Iamaleava, UCLA - TRANSFER
Let's look at some playoff teams last year:
Texas started a transfer last year. Indiana started a transfer. Oregon started a transfer. ASU started a transfer. Ohio St. started a transfer. Notre Dame started a transfer.
Foster hasn't even been our coach for a year and a half. Which of his HS signees has he passed over? McDaniel for sure, but that's a case where UCLA just ended up with the 2025 HS QB they wanted all along, Madden. The two QB's in the 2024 class signed when Chip was still pretending to be the coach.
I don't see any reason to think that if DF were to ever bring in a great HS QB, that he wouldn't start him. We are a "portal team at QB" only in the sense that nearly everyone else is, or will be. Nothing unique about it. Teams know QB is the one position they have to get right to have success, and they will move heaven and earth to get the best one they can.
If you're a HS QB looking for a program to be faithful to you as you develop, good luck with that.
