He had a RB coach job with the Raiders so he didn't need the head coaching job at UCLA? Are you serious? He probably got 5-6 times what the Raiders were going to pay him per year, plus a multi-year guarantee. That's like saying you don't need a house on the beach because you already have a two-bedroom in Van Nuys.

Foster was (understandably) desperate for the job, because it's the only head job he was ever (and will ever be) offered.

Also, this idea that UCLA provides historically awful support is false. Although certainly uneven and inadequate in places, UCLA built a new facility under Mora (after he showed something in his first few years), gave Chip Kelly the largest nutrition budget in the nation, and was top 3 in attendance in the P-12 not very long ago.

Already in his mid-40's, Foster was not on track to even be a coordinator.
