I'm very happy the vote went as it did but her reasons, as you set them out here, are valid though, imo, a bit short sighted. (But of course I reserve the right to be wrong - just my opinion). I'd take a longer view and trust that success in the major sports constitute great advertising for the University and that - again, long run - constitutes a case in which a rising tide float the whole fleet - the entire University. But current situation is pretty scary and I get the other position. The Regents oversee the entire University operation and having people with different opinions enriches debate and is the healthiest approach for democratic governance.
