So basically the prevent defense hasn’t been effective since around 2005.
I’m poking fun, but honestly I cannot for the life of me understand the logic of changing your defense when you have been great all game at doing what you’ve been doing.
Playing conservative (rushing 3) and keeping everything in front of you seems like a tailor made way to give easy throws to the opposing qb, build his confidence, and surrender large chunks in the middle of the field. Why do that when you have been excelling doing something else all game?
I think being in the coaching profession dictates the logic of going prevent and I’m sure it makes sense somehow…but man it is frustrating to watch.
