I wish we could have seen how the team would have performed had Tim Skipper been at the reins going into the season. Obviously, that's a fantasy, but I keep wondering. I was really impressed when I learned that one of the first things he did was insist that the players cleaned up the locker room. (That felt to me like something John Wooden would have done on the basketball side of things. And while I'm not tying to suggest that Tim Skipper is going to become the football equivalent of John Wooden, I'd like to believe that he feels Coach's presence.)
I don't expect our guys to come out on top this Saturday, but I know they'll be far more competitive than I ever could have hoped to expect a month ago...assuming, of course, that Nico is playing. And even if he won't be playing, our defense is light years beyond where it was a month ago.
