From College Football News:

Athletic directors, assume the coach you're about to hire will be fired. Start from there and work backwards. How are you going to get out of whatever deal you're about to sign?

How many of the 136 current head coaches have been there since before 2020? 21, and about ten of them won't be around next year, for whatever reason.

--------------------------
21 / 136 = 15%

The number is a bit misleading, since many of the coaches in 2020 may have been at their schools for quite a while, but there is a TON of head coaching turnover.

It's the result of a mathematical fact. Half of the teams in any league will finish in the bottom half.

And those in the top half get higher and higher expectations, every year they are in the top half.

It's a crazy system, but the coaches are paid a ton of money, even if their job security isn't great.
