I walked from a car dealership on the parade route without
knowing where I was going, but followed a few people, and
eventually made it. My seat was in the lower level, corner,
and right in front of me, three hours later, Bob Stiles tackled
a Spartan, denying Michigan State a tie.
(Prothro called an on-side kick that worked. Farr had a
great game. His son later played in the Rose Bowl for UCLA.)
After the game, I returned to the car dealership and called
a cab to take me back to Santa Monica Boulevard and Sawtelle.
That would probably be an $80 dollar fare today.
I was a blank canvas. The rest of the 1960s and graduate school
would take care of that.
