That was the first UCLA-USC game. I'm sure it was of extreme importance to us. But that's not enough to make a "real" rivalry. Especially when you get clobbered 76-0. I doubt USC gave us a second thought. We lost 52-0 the next year. It appeared so pointless we didn't play them at all between 1931 and 1935.
It isn't a rivalry until both teams show they can be a pain in the ass to the other.
