A season can go south so quickly, and all the good feelings along with it. And cultures are really tested when you lose, not when you win. Look at the 2000 and 2001 seasons to remember how good feelings can get shut down real quick.
Lose to Purdue and we are 0-1 in the Big 10, with much tougher games to come. Not the end of the world, but a huge step back. And right before two Big 10 road games.
Purdue's stats against other teams should give no comfort when we just had a not-easy game vs SDSU, who looked poor vs an awful Portland St. team.
This season is a work in progress, like they always are in September (except for last September, when it was already over by this time).
