What if Ches had declined the penalty? Two shots at gaining 1 yard which would virtualy end the game. But Oregon coulda stacked against the run. I've changed my mind. I actually think it was wise to accept the penalty -- even though that's what Lanning hoped we would do.
Anyway, thank you for pointing out the Lanning himself stated that the offside was intentional. He says it very explicitly at the 17:38 mark of the linked video.
