I don't agree with the point of your original post. You conditioned the idea that Chesney has made a real difference on the outcome of next week's game. Man, this program was in the crapper not 12 months ago and even if we lose to MSU we will be 6-1 and ranked. We basically had a guy cosplaying as a head coach, a clown of an AD, and almost no hope at all. And we've done a complete 180 that is being reflected in recruiting as I type this.
This is Chesney's first year. I had high expectations coming in but we can't expect that there won't be some bumps along the way. It seems like some fans are just waiting for a loss so they can proclaim "same old UCLA."
Try and enjoy it. For the first time in a very long time, the future of the program looks bright.
(Having said that, I don't see us losing to MSU. After MSU and Nevada, though, I think we will see one or more losses.)
