They've been killing hens since, at least, November. Believe the total number killed in last three months is north of 25M. Reduce supply = rising prices.

Then you have state laws and regulations which require more square footage per animal. That further decreases the number of hens available for egg production.

The bird flu will eventually be controlled, but laws and regulations mandating how much land each animal requires probably won't be changing anytime soon. I think we'll be seeing expensive eggs for sometime.
