I hope the author is right but I really doubt it.
I have a friend I've known since kindergarten, 54 years now. Today at the same time I posted on FB the link about them mistaking 8 million for 8 billion, he posted the meme from Musk about the 150 year olds getting social security.
I immediately told him it was not true, he did a rolling laugh emoji. I then gave him a link to an AP story that explains all of what Musk said he thought he found, the 150 year thing, the list of people who were identity fraud victims etc. 4 hours later he hasn't said a thing. I know he's seen it because he again did the laughing emoji.
But I don't think he's READ it, and if he does read it, he won't care.
5 years ago I sent him a story about Trump and kids stealing from a childrens cancer fund(St Jude) for golf tournaments. a month ago he said he'd never heard the story. I said I gave it to you 5 years ago. He admitted yesterday he still has not read the story, but because Trump and the kids never went to prison he doubts it is true. Even though they paid 2 million to settle the case he said that's a shakedown.
They are so sunk in they will spin ANYTHING to avoid having to see the truth
