On #2, the media, keep an eye on three/four things:
(a) mergers and companies changing ownership and
(b) ad revenues beginning to dry up or get severely downgraded by big corporations refuse to put their ads on specific media outlets for fear of government retaliation, and
(c.i) changes in libel laws or judicial practice that makes it easier for the president to interpret criticism as personal libel, followed by ...
(c.ii) a series of court cases (which already started) filed against media outlets who have not gotten on board yet, or continue to criticize the mad king.
After that, the jailing of journalists can begin (we'll probably get there in a couple of years - Musk, the free speech absolutist, is already calling for it).
