Dan Satterfield details how Canada, The EU and Japan among others got together and bought up US debt as a shield against Trumps idiocy. So when he put the tariffs on, Carney of Canada had a call with Trump and dropped the bad news, you do that, we start dumping US debt.
Trump didn't believe him but Japan started overnight which was hurting the US bond market. Then the next day Canada and the EU started their targeted and coordinated assault on the bond market and Trump cried Uncle and paused.
BTW, if you aven't noticed, the US bond market is going berserk, 10 year is way up at it's highest since 2001 and economists are panicking because it would be much worse than the stock markets cratering if the bond market does.
Not sure what Trump will do tomorrow but look for him to do something to try and stop the bleeding. He claims he had 12 countries negotiating today, my guess is he'll announce he won tomorrow and cut tariffs again
