(and not just Netflix; once Netflix brings it up, so does Paramount+ and Disney and whoever else is connected to one studio or the other followed by a cascade effect on all services whether it's ESPN+ or Animal Planet).

Same kind of cascade effect means ticket prices will go up for everyone, not just foreign movies selectively.

As foreign movies become circulated less, the amount of good movies out there will be reduced quite a bit, now down to independent movies, which may not be able to compete at a higher price point. Which means all we will have left is remakes and sequels of '80s and '90s blockbusters and Marvel movies, i.e., a diet of all hamburgers and french fries, with cultural arteriosclerosis that inevitably follows.

Also, retaliatory tariffs would be leveled against US movies, which would be a boon to non-US movie industry to get a better chance at the foothold they've been looking for.

Joint projects would probably become a bit of a nightmare, I'm sure, and so would shooting on location outside the US, I can imagine.

I dunno, I am sure there will be some other effects.

PS. Not everyone knows how to use a VPN. You can't decide what most people will do based on what a handful of people you know personally are doing.
