I haven't seen anything which suggests that it actually cost the Democrats votes.

The Democrats won the White House and Senate in 2020 at the height of its usage.

Democrats lost ground in 2022, but voters in 2022 weren't focused on swampy Democratic messaging, they were focused on 8% inflation and supply chain issues as a result of the world emerging from a pandemic and a major European conflict.
