The way our Democracy was created was that people working in their best interest would still create a better government.
We however, have created so many loopholes where individual greed can create an outsized impact on citizens as a whole.
GOP Supreme Court justices, to protect their own bribes, have made bribery follow a very narrow definition.
Pelosi and many others have allowed themselves to trade on inside information or to be hired afterwards as lobbyists.
The GOP removed transparency from elections with Citizens United. The media no longer reports on it because they need the huge flows of money every 4 years to survive financially. This includes MSNBC.
Reagan protected wealth from taxation, providing the incentive and overwhelming wealth for the very rich to buy influence and more tax protections.
Obama supersized campaign donations, being the first to reject public financing because he could make more from the outside.
