I'll try to avoid going on a rant. My views are well known in this circle. Where I think the problem is, who I hold responsible, and for what. We can argue about all that if there's any point to that.
What matters is what we do next? We're entering a period in our history that Americans are not ready to face. They have no natural immunity or resistance to when the Trump autocracy starts coming down on us with its full weight. Everything that's coming around the corner is totally foreign to every American. And these things play out differently in real life than whatever any of us may have been fantasizing about. The structures that we were told were firm and strong, the constitutional order, all that stuff, we saw how fast and how thoroughly they collapsed.
I think we have some very big and fairly fundamental questions ahead of us. It is not enough to imagine a better America, we need to have some ideas how we get there.
Any ideas as to where we go from here? With the cards on the table and knowing what's barrelling downhill to flatten us as a nation, as a culture, how do we respond to all this and by doing what?
