Disagree with most of what you say. The game is just an exhibition to showcase the best players but it's more competitive than the all-star games in other sports. You think the NBA players try to play any defense in their all-star game? They got rid of the NFL Pro Bowl since nobody wanted to get hurt.
But the Homerun derby is a farce since they obviously use juiced baseballs.
