ICE is using new software on their cellphones called Mobile Fortify that goes through facial recognition of over 200 million images to tell them who someone is, what their name is, where they were born, are they legal, what their court status is etc. It's also designed to be able to "link up" to commercial databases in the future to get more information.

There's one small problem with Mobile Fortify, it's being used in a scale that it simply doesn't work at. It's getting errors, TONS of them. Misidentifying people. Many of the ICE arrested a US citizen story we're seeing are the direct result of the software giving back incorrect information. It uses both facial recognition and AI but like everything else the first version of it just doesn't work nearly as well as it should to actually be deployed. But Trump and ICE don't care if they make mistakes.

THey're operating under the idea whoever they arrest, deserves it, if they made a mistake so what. As more data becomes available to link to the software, it will get more accurate. They don't want to wait for that so they're using it now and screw the consequences.
