No matter how much energy you create, you will use all of it due to technological advancement.
Unfortunately, astronomical use of energy is directly tied to national and military security due to AI.
Pragmatically, any country that doesn't embrace nuclear power will be at a significant economic and military disadvantage.
I don't like it much like I don't like nuclear weapons, but I'm not sure what other choice there is.
