I don't have as much issues with this policy.
Basically, under I believe Biden, NVIDIA was forced to develop a much slower chip to sell to China for national security purposes.
What Trump is saying is that these slowed-down chips are 15% more expensive. I'd much rather trade slowed-down chips at an extra price for rare earth minerals, which we don't have.
I'd also prefer China continue to use NVIDIA chips rather than develop its own AI chip manufacturer.
The only person that gets partially hurt is an NVIDIA stockholder, but I'm not crying about the first $4 trillion company.
This simply makes AI more expensive for China but still reliant on us. That's not a bad thing.
