Let us assume that there were only two candidates in each race: one Democrat and one Republican.

In 2024, Trump won by 10%. That would mean the race was Trump 55% and Harris 45%.

In 2025, the Democrat won by 70%. That would mean the race was Republican 15% and Democrat 85%.

That means that from 2024 to 2025, 40% of total voters shifted from Republican to Democrat. That remains a gobsmacking shift,, but it ain't 80%.
