Sure, industrialization takes a lot of energy, and you're very likely not going to get all you need through renewables and will need to have some additional sources going to maintain a level of production. And yes, nuclear may be one of the options on the table, but the rest is absolute bullsh*t.

This is the classic American right-wing talking point that they repeat over and over again: if you can't solve a problem in its totality through one single, no cost, no effort move, you shouldn't even try. If you take away legal guns, there will still be guns out there and violence will not stop, so why take guns away in the first place? If you convert all to solar and wind, you can't meet the industry needs, so why go down that road in the first place. Also, solar doesn't work at night, amirite? (My god, the smirk on their faces when they actually say this, as if they've said something really smart that has not occurred to anyone else before.)

Renewables can go a long way to meet the needs of residential power demand. It could help residences be self-sufficient and even generate extra energy to sell back to the grid, which is something they do regularly. Also, the research on alternative energy sources is an ongoing thing and the options are not exhausted yet.

May I pause for a moment and point out that this was supposed to be a nation of engineers and "can do" optimism about the future? How did we end up here? (That was a rhetorical question, BTW.)

He has that thing with windmills because there are windmills out there in the sea offshore from his golf course in Scotland that he thinks spoils the view, which is why he's so insanely fixated on windmills. As usual, it's always about him. He's 12 after all.

That said, you know what's the significantly growing demand on power? IT's AI, it's crypto, it's al that computational bullsh*t designed to make a handful of people trillionaires. IOW, if we're heading right into an actual energy crisis, that's because of the growing tech oligarchy that's the reason.

F*ck'em all. F*ck tech feudalism. F*ckt Trump. F*ck anyone who supports him at any level.
