We need to examine how much of that 16%—the voters who would not support a woman president—overlaps with Evangelical or Born-Again Christians. Notably, 85% of this group voted for Trump, which suggests that a significant portion is already aligned with the GOP.

If you argue that 5% of true swing voters might switch to a Republican candidate over a female Democratic candidate, I would agree with that it is an election defining number of voters — but I would need to see the cross-tabulated polling data to confirm.

It’s also important to remember that 55–60% of GOP voters are men, and the majority are non-college-educated. I suspect there is substantial overlap between this demographic and the 16% who would not vote for a woman—meaning a portion of that block was never realistically reachable for a Democratic candidate.

Looking at swing voters more broadly, off the top of my head, they include roughly 10% of Hispanics, 10% of African American men, and younger voters. In the case of Kamala Harris, the segment we expected to swing but didn’t consisted of about 5% of women. She ended up receiving 55% of women’s votes, falling short of the target of 60%.

After seeing a dynamic eloquent black man overwhelmingly be voted into office, I can't see why an eloquent woman who markets herself as an outsider can't also.
