Hospitals use it for pain medication. The problem with fentanyl is not that it is some evil drug, it's that it is a very potent drug, and you need to be careful about the dosage.
What he did is the equivalent of declaring morphine a WMD. Or that turbo-charged ibuprofen that was the only thing my pain responded to when I had a major surgery 5 years ago. Fentanyl is part of the pain management toolbox that hospitals use.
That was an infuriating decision. But then, that's what you get when you don't have a single person in your inner circle who knows anything about anything.
