This was a close election.
There was large demographics that took unusually large historic swings towards Trump (men, AA men, youth, and Hispanics).
A candidate that could have impacted any of those demographics could have won the race.
We saw that campaigning made about a 2% to 3% movement towards the Dems in the swings states over states that were not targeted.
This was a coin toss race. You didn't need much more as a candidate to beat Trump.
