Russian Wifi issues

Starlink effectively cut off Russian access by limiting service in the Ukraine–Russia region to registered terminals only. The move caught both Russian forces and Ukrainians using gray-market Starlink units by surprise.

Russia attempted to activate its own low-orbit satellite communications system, but reports indicate it failed to function effectively. Russian forces then shifted to using Discord for battlefield communication. However, concerned that soldiers might use the platform to voice frustrations publicly, Russian authorities restricted access, leaving troops scrambling for alternatives.

In response, Ukrainian operators reportedly set up a fake website claiming it could “unjam” Starlink terminals in exchange for a fee and geolocation data. Russian users attempting to restore connectivity allegedly submitted their Starlink serial numbers and coordinates, allowing Ukraine to locate communications centers and blacklist those terminals permanently.

There are also reports that Russian forces are now paying Ukrainian civilians to register Starlink terminals on their behalf. Ukrainian authorities are said to be tracking individuals involved in those arrangements.

Meanwhile, Ukraine has remained relatively quiet about activity in the Zaporizhzhia region, where they are attempting to exploit Russian communications disruptions. Military bloggers are divided: some express optimism about renewed Ukrainian offensive operations, while others caution that Ukraine is incurring losses similar to those Russia suffered during its own offensives.

As the conflict increasingly shifts toward drone-versus-drone warfare, some analysts predict the war could continue for 5 more years.

One Ukrainian drone manufacturer is reportedly preparing to list on the NASDAQ. I'm curious what they will be able to do with the infusion of cash.
