I'm in a discussion on this now on FB with someone who insists we need Voter ID and why am I not onboard. He claims that he lived in Hawaii and Oregon before Arizona, and while registered in Arizona in 2024 he got mailin ballots from Hawaii and Oregon "I have no idea how they found me but I could have voted in all 3 elections."
My response was no you could have mailed in ballots in all 3 but 2 of them would have been rejected because unless they have your Arizona address, your ballot was FORWARDED to you and when that happens the sender gets a copy. So your vote would NOT have been counted and in fact you would have been contacted about attempting to vote illegally. But he says we should not have mail in voting for that reason.
I asked him if we should verify gun owners by demanding they show up with all their guns and prove they have licenses. He said no, 2nd Amendment, you have to provide an ID to buy the gun you have to provide one to go to a shooting range, why should you have to show proof every year? So it's unfair for guns, but when you register to vote it in fact uses your ID. It's compared to your license, or real ID and then compared to your signature.
30-40% of 20 year olds have fake ID's in this country because they want to buy alcohol, so requiring them to show an ID to vote takes something with far less than 1% fraud and introducing an element where 30 plus percent of them have a fake ID, so how can we be sure the ID they use to vote is real?
