Not anymore. Jared Kushner’s private equity firm withdrew from the Paramount deal in mid-December. It seems as if Paramount at the time had not paid off the President sufficiently. The Netflix CEO had for the first time made overtures to Trump who Trump commended.
One of the challenges surrounding the Paramount transaction was the number of dispersed and loosely aligned financial partners involved. The current strategy seems less about political leverage and more about structure: offering a higher price to large shareholders in what amounts to a quasi-hostile takeover approach.
