People pretend that democracy in America is guaranteed. That's American ego and wishful thinking. I used to think that the moneyed interests in America would, as a last resort, protect at least the illusion of real democracy, but they're in on it now. It turns out the autocratic cult made them more money than democracy did so we're F'ed.
At least that's the way it's looking. Still hoping for a miracle though.
