Our democracy has been a dead man walking since the Citizens United ruling. Once Clinton shifted the party to the right, it effectively got out of the way for plutocracy. The Democratic Party has shown no intentions to stop it.

The 2024 being our last opportunity? What could the Democratic Party have done? The problem is with the American public. Trump's floor is roughly 40%. If we were a First World exemplary democratic republic that we fancy ourselves to be, Trump's ceiling should be 20% in a bad year. Instead, his floor is twice that. There is nothing the Democratic Party could have done even if it was led by a JFK or an FDR.
