other international body with a similar function? I remember this was something that came up during the Iraq war and the rationale for us staying outside of that system was to avoid being charged with war crimes (I guess we are aware that we have a propensity to commit war crimes, whether it is napalm bombing Vietnamese villages or using white phosphorus on Iraqi civilians).
I think at this point, we are objectively a seriously sh*tty nation and the onus is on us to prove it otherwise.
Assuming there is a Democratic trifecta in 2028, I still don't think there will be any prosecutions regarding this era. Their instinct, as always, will be to move on without any accountability in the name of unity and reconciliation (though the real reason will be their cowardice).
