Thiel paid millions to run phony ads against the bill. one ad told people Obama was against the gerrymandering, Obama was literally campaigning FOR it.
IN another ad they correctly determined that people WANTED the gerrymandering so they lied and said a Yes vote was AGAINST gerrymandering and a no vote was FOR it hoping people wouldn't pay attention and vote no. It appears to have worked, thousands of Virginians are now complaining they were misled by the ad. It still won but the margin was lower because of Thiels fake ads
