This 2024 autopsy report clinches it.
I haven't read it. Don't have the patience or the interest in putting myself through 192 pages of apparently highly questionable document, based purely on the annotations on it that goes page after page. It seems to be a document that does not get its facts right, frequently makes contradictory arguments across a paragraph break, keeps referring to that old "many have said" device, a lot of claims with no citation, etc etc.
In other words it screams ChatGPT. Or Claude. Or whatever. Some kind of LLM written product. It seems like whoever was paid to write this report just turned to some online commercial LLM and created this document.
And get this: IT HAS NO CONCLUSIONS. No *FRIGGIN* CONCLUSIONS. NONE. "This section was not provided by the author". WT actual F?
Also I confirmed what others have also noted: search on the words "israel" or "gaza" return 0 results. 0. It's one thing to conclude that these were not a significant issue at all in Harris' loss (which would be completely incorrect, IMO, but whatever), but this was a burning topic at the time and there has to be at least some discussion on it and some claim that explicitly says this issue was found to be irrelevant or something.
Same thing with Biden's age.
I didn't search on Harris' inability to separate herself from Biden as an issue (which was also pretty big, IMO) but I did search on "Biden" and didn't see it come up. It may be there in some form, discussed without a mention of Biden by name, so I can't confidently say it's not there, but at least it's my impression that it's not.
Ok, fine. Ken Martin commissioned some dude for this report, he turned in some piece of garbage that was so embarrassing that he could not release it to the public as is. So what's your next move Ken?
- Commission a new report? No.
- Work on what you got, add some analysis, correct the discrepancies and at least produce some document that vaguely passes muster? No.
He cans the thing and says "we are moving on, looking forward blah blah blah".
This is a *very* bad sign that the DNC is in the hands of not only an incompetent bunch but also a power-craving, CYA bunch who has no apparent interest in actually moving the party forward by identifying past mistakes and making sure they are not repeated. That said, they have all drawn their conclusions already and decided that the progressive base and trans rights were the problem, moving on to methodically alienating a big chunk of potential allies … because apparently the future of the party is not with Mamdani and SDA, but with AIPAC and people like Liz Cheney.
I've been saying this for a while now: The Democratic Party is not interested in winning elections. Individual Democrats running for office are interested in winning their own elections, but the party is not interested in winning collectively. As an organization, it is more interested in filling the void in the center right and conventional right that is left behind by the Republican Party to serve the moneyed interests better, i.e., the Clinton strategy has never been successfully flushed out of the system.
So how will this impact November: Unknown. If there are big gains, the reason will not be because Democratic Party did well, but because the Republican Party has become an even more toxic a brand than it has ever been. IOW, I think it will be more of a Republican Party defeat and not a Democratic Party victory, if you know what I mean.
