The failure of Democrats' have been not to be able to separate themselves from that world and fully commit to the alternative. California has thankfully been better than other states because we've chosen to reject the likes of Pratt and Hilton, but it still has problems because we can't escape the Pratt-Hilton paradigm.
This election, as every election I have participated in the US since 1987, the choices are between a group of people who actively create an evil system and a group of people who are in various stages of ineffectiveness in pushing back against the said system. Each election, after all, is all and only the means for harm reduction, and never an opportunity for an actual solution.
